David was born 1989 in Bloomington, Indiana, later living in Detroit, MI, before moving to his current location of Sacramento, CA. David grew up with an affinity for art, primarily drawing and illustration. Later on, when attempting to finish a detailed ink drawing with color, he discovered the difficulties of the world of color, and his journey to truly learn to paint took permanent hold.

Today he paint’s primarily in oil paint en plein air — paintings that are done outdoors from direct observation in natural light. In this way, the light, color, and mood of scenes are captured quickly and directly from the eye, giving impressions of nature - from the epic vistas at National Parks to the beautifully mundane.
